Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS) in financial and leadership crisis as seven(7) Managers resign, Acting Director Communications says “it’s normal movement of staff for greener pastures”.

MBABANE:The Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS) is allegedly in a financial and leadership crisis and as a result,seven(7) Managers have resigned within one(1) month.

A document in possession of this Swaziland News suggests that,the resigned Managers include Bekezele Dlamini and Prudence Dlamini both from the Domestic Taxes Department, Sebenzile Dlamini(Business Strategy and Development) and Colani Lukhele from the Commissioner’s Office.

Others include Rose Phindile Maseko(Customs and Exercise-Inland Operations),Nondumiso Sigwane(Domestic Taxes) and Bukiswa Dlamini from the Customs and Exercise-Boarder Operations.

Reached for comments on Friday evening,Ntobeko Dlamini,the Acting Director Communications denied that, the State entity “is facing challenges adding that,the resignation of the Managers is normal” movement of staff for greener pastures.

“The ERS, as a government-funded entity, remains financially stable and has not experienced any situation where we could not meet our financial obligations to staff or service providers. As an organisation, we are continuously focused on enhancing efficiency and optimising our cost of collection through innovative strategies.With a staff complement of over 600 employees, we will experience staff movements from time to time, where individuals seek to pursue growth opportunities outside of the ERS”, said the Acting Director Communications.

It is alleged that, the resigned Managers were not happy with Commissioner General Brightwell Nkambule’s leadership and that, the institution “is staggering in implementing a salary review and improve working conditions” amid a financial crisis.
