EDUCATION CRISIS:University of Eswatini(UNESWA) staff told to work from home as Water Services terminates supply for outstanding payments, Mswati to spend over R200million on international trip.

KWALUSENI:Richard Masuku, the Acting Registrar of the University of Eswatini(UNESWA) has written a memorandum, informing staff to work from home amid interruption of water supply.

This comes after the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) terminated supply for alleged outstanding payments.

The Acting Registrar did not specify why the water supply to the institution of higher learning was terminated but the University has been facing financial challenges for some time now.

“Following the interruption to water supply at the Kwaluseni Campus since Tuesday 15th October 2024, a decision has been taken by Management to request staff at the Kwaluseni Campus to work from home until the supply of water to the Campus has been restored”, reads the memorandum in part.

Efforts to seek a comment from the Registrar proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

On another note,it has been reported that,King Mswati and his delegation will spent over R200million public funds,the King left the country on Sunday for the World Food Forum in Italy, he will then proceed to Serbia for a State visit before attending the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa. 

Eswatini is facing an education crisis, schools are facing shortage of teachers and working while institutions of higher learning and/or Universities, face financial challenges amid Government failure to fund education.
