MBABANE:Vice Chancellor(VC) Justice Tfwala is among those financially collapsing the University of Eswatini(UNESWA), he earns two hundred and ten thousand Rands(R210,000.00) as a monthly salary amid financial challenges within the institution of higher learning.
This is contained in a report leaked to the media, the report was compiled by a Renumeration Committee chaired by current Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Finance Vusi Dlamini and, the investigation was launched by the then UNESWA Chairman Prince David who was appointed by the King and tasked with finding solution to the crisis.
But the report that recommended the reduction of the Vice Chancellor’s salary and others within the institution was never implemented hence the crisis worsened.
The report further suggests that, the Vice Chancellor and other few Administrators collectively earn about R1million monthly as salaries but, the institution “is currently struggling to pay salaries” on time and a R8million water bill.
The Vice Chancellor was not available for a comment despite numerous attempts to contact him regarding this matter.
On another note, Government through the Minister of Education Owen Nxumalo has appointed another Committee tasked with investigating the challenges within the University and this time, the Committee is led by Muzi Siyaya, the Managing Director(MD) of Ubombo Sugar Limited.
Siyaya recently addressed a press conference acknowledging the existence of the crisis within the University adding that, the Commitee was vigorously working towards addressing the challenges.
