MBABANE:Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has called for calm among emaSwati after the Eswatini Electricity Company(EEC) applied to increase electricity by 25.51% once again.
Addressing the media on Thursday before flying to Botswana to attend newly elected President Duma Boko inauguration, the PM said proposal is yet to be scrutinized by the Eswatini Energy and Regulatory Authority(ESERA)before being reffered to Cabinet.
“We urge the public to consider participating in the submissions before the regulator if they are opposed to the electricity increase. The matter will also reach Cabinet and therefore, there’s no need to panic at this juncture”, said the Prime Minister.
The Eswatini Electricity Company is generating millions as profits but continues to increase electricity, one hundred Rands(R100.00) will buy only thirty-two(32) units should the proposed hike be approved.
