MLIBA:Lindani Shiba(27), a Motor Mechanic was, on Friday morning, grabbed by Mliba Traffic Police and heavily assaulted merely for driving a car without a license disc.

Speaking to this Swaziland News,Ntsiki Dlamini said, the police arrested her boyfriend while he was test-driving a car belonging to a client.

“I was with him in the car when the police stopped and arrested him, they took him to the Mliba Police Station. When I arrived there a few hours later ngitsi ngiyomhlola ngikhandza liphoyisa lesifazane lacale lacamba emanga latsi akekho. Wasuke wamemeta ngale labamvalele khona watsi “ngikhona” wavela wangkhombisa labamshaye khona.I took pictures and the police tried to delete those pictures in my phone, I said NO I’m gathering evidence of what they have done to him.They decided to detain him until Monday so that they can destroy evidence of the injuries. When I arrived at the Police Station, I made it clear that, I wanted to pay the fine, I want my boyfriend out and they refused to release him. As we speak, I am from the Station Commander to report that, my boyfriend was assaulted by a Matsebula traffic officer merely for driving a car with no license disc, can you imagine?.Ngiyabuyela nje kubo nangcedza kukhuluma nawe nyalo”, she said.

Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati declined to comment about the matter.

Eswatini police are violating human rights with impunity, citizens are arrested, tortured or killed by members of the security forces.

On another note, Ntsiki Dlamini, the girlfriend to the arrested Motor Mechanic told this publication that, the police are now fabricating another case saying, her boyfriend resisted arrest.

”He did not resist arrest, I was with him in the car when they stopped him. They are trying to justify the assault as if he was assaulted while resisting arrest”,she said.
