Chief Prince Velebantfu arrests LaMavuso for allowing her son Mandla Dlamini to build lilawu within family premises without paying a cow.

LOMFA:Chief Prince Velebantfu of Lomfa(New Heaven) community in the Shiselweni Region, has unleashed police officers on Busi Dlamini(LaMavuso) for allegedly allowing her son Mandla Dlamini to build lilawu within the family premises without paying a cow.

LaMavuso(64) was allegedly grabbed by the police around 5am on Wednesday and subsequently taken to Hlathinkhulu Police Station, her family members told this publication.

Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati,the eSwatini Police Spokesperson declined to comment about the matter. 

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Wednesday evening, Chief Prince Velebantfu first denied the matter when speaking to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.He then said if the woman was arrested by the police “she is in good hands as cops work according to the law and will definitely come back” later.

“If she was arrested by the police, she is in good hands and will come back”, said the Chief who is also a police officer at Sidvokodvo.

Some citizens including orphans and widows, are abused by Chiefs in the rural areas and, forced to pay a cow or money when seeking to build houses within their own land or allocate a piece of land to their children or grandchildren.
