SIMUNYE:Sotja Magagula, a police officer based at Simunye Police Station has been arrested for allegedly raping a fifteen(15) year-old child whose parents are also police officers.
Children of junior police officers are vulnerable to rape amid shortage of houses, cops share accommodation.
The names of the parents cannot be revealed to protect the identity of the child who “is an alleged victim of rape”.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the eSwatini Police Spokesperson declined to comment about the matter.
The arrest of the police officer is also included in the 21st November 2024, Lubombo Region police report directed to National Commissioner of Police Vusi Manoma Masango under ‘ref’ number Simunye RCCI 646/2024.
But in the same police report leaked to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini, Siphofaneni Police reported that, Thabiso Dlamini(32),Mfundo Dlamini(30) and Wandile Dlamini(36), all from Sithobelweni, were arrested and charged for being in possession of a 9mm pistol serial number ALYALY1501-240652 loaded with sixteen(16) live rounds of ammunition while at Sithobelweni area.
