MBABANE:Zweli Martin Dlamini, the editor of this Swaziland News has been engaged again to be among top international journalists who will compile the World Press Freedom report by the France based Reporters Without Borders(RSF).
Dlamini will be focusing on eSwatini media freedom, he was among the international journalists who compiled the previous report that was then celebrated by Savannah Maziya, the Information Minister together with eSwatini journalists.
The previous report suggested that, eSwatini was improving in press freedom index.
“We have selected you for your expertise on the media situation in a specific country:Eswatini”, reads an email sent to the editor by Reporters Without Borders on Thursday.
Commenting on the previous report,Dlamini said eSwatini improved in the press freedom index because there were no journalists who were killed or arrested unlike in other countries.
“We are always objective when working on these reports because such world reports are used even by the United Nations(UN) agencies and potential investors when researching about countries.I am happy to learn that, Reporters Without Borders has been considering me for almost five(5) years now when compiling these reports”, said the editor.
The editor said, the report does not only provides findings about Government but it also analyse how political parties, businesspeople, religious leaders and other powerful individuals treat journalists and if media practitioners are not intimidated or bullied in their line of duty.
