MBABANE:Menzi Nxumalo, a judicial Government employee was on New Year’s night allegedly shot at close range by a Lobamba Traffic police officer in a dramatic ‘drink and driving’ chase.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday while at the Mbabane Government Hospital, the judicial employee said, he decided to run away, used another route after identifying the police who were staging a roadblocks next to Lozitha Palace as he was in a questionable state of sobriety.
“I drove and decided to park the car next to the road at eLangeni and ran away as the police were chasing me. One Mamba police officer was hot on my heels and subsequently shot me at close range inside a nearby home where I was hiding”, said the judicial Government officer when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson declined to comment about the matter.
