Health Minister Lizzie Nkosi: There’s a high demand of oxygen in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

MBABANE: Health Minister Lizzie Nkosi has revealed that the country found itself with no alternative but to import the oxygen after the demand increased in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

Responding to questions from this Swaziland News on Monday, the Minister said the shortage of oxygen that was later restored as reported by the media was caused by the some delays during the festive holidays.

“Oxygen is produced in country but not enough quantities so we have imports arriving nearly daily. We were affected by the holidays. But demand continues to increase, so import more and more” said the Health Minister.

On Saturday, the Clinic Group released a statement informing the Nation that they will start rationing oxygen for hospitalized patients.

“Due to the current nationwide shortage of oxygen, we unfortunately have to start rationing hospitalized patients” read the statement released by the Clinic Group.
