MBABANE: Ncamiso Mahlalela, the Founder of Helping Hand Foundation says they are working on launching a campaign called \'Adopt a Child, Adopt a Community \' which seeks to encourage organisations and individuals to buy sanitary pads for school going girls.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday, shortly after donating sanitary pads to One Billion Rising Campaign, Mahlalela said his organization\'s aim was to get everyone involved in helping the girl child to access quality sanitary pads so that they cannot miss out at school during their menstrual days.
\"It is our wish that government can also join this initiative because this is everyone\'s concern. Government can play a significant role in such as the girl child is also the future of the country,\" he said.
Helping Hand Foundation is an organization that buys sanitary pads for school girl children. It has donated sanitary pads to school around the country and its aims to protect the dignity of the girl child during her menstrual days. Mahlalela said it is his wish that one day sanitary towels will be be free just like condoms because some children cannot but them on their own.
Colani Hlatswako, the One Billion Rising Africa Coordinator thanked Helping Hand Foundation for the donation and pledging to work with other organisation in restoring the dignity of the girl child.
