MBABANE:King Mswati allegedly deployed his alleged spies in Parliament who then report directly to his Intelligence Unit regarding the affairs and operations of Parliament.

This comes subsequent to a political unrest that was amplified by the previous Parliament, resulting to the arrest of two(2) pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube who were subsequently convicted on politically motivated terrorism charges.

It has been disclosed that, Prince Lindani, former Army Commander Lieutenant General Tsembeni Magongo, King’s Praise Singer Qethuka Dlamini,Princess Ncengencenge and former National Commissioner of Police Isaac Mmemo Magagula are some of the King’s spies strategically appointed to monitor the operations of Parliament.

Before his appointment by the King to work as a Senator, Isaac Magagula was allegedly working on a State project seeking to establish a Special Intelligence Unit to oversee the army, Correctional Services and police spying Departments under what was to be known as “the Ministry of State Security and Intelligence”.

Worth-noting, apart of the highest King’s Intelligence Unit, the are other unknown secret spies in Parliament who report to the Army and State police Intelligence Unit, “the Legislative Arm of Government is currently one of the most monitored

amid political uncertainty in the tiny Kingdom”.

But an independent investigation conducted by this Swaziland News uncovered that, as part of the intelligence operation in Parliament, Prince Lindani was tasked with creating strategic working relations with some Members of Parliament who, in their submissions or debates “sound or appear to be pro-democratic” so that he could easily spy on them.

Lindani is a soldier and was working with appointed MP Lieutenant General Tsembeni Magongo and Senator Qethuka Dlamini in the army.

But it is alleged that, the structure of the King’s Intelligence in Parliament enables one spy not to know what the other discussed with the King such that, even the other spies are also monitored by other spies unknown to them.

As a result, the terms of reference for the Parliament King’s Intelligence enables Mswati to know critical motions even before they are tabled or debated by Houses of Parliament.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News on Saturday afternoon, King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane denied that, the King deployed his loyalists to spy on Parliament.

The King’s Spokesperson said, there was no way the Monarch could deploy spies as Parliament debates are recorded and King Mswati listen willy-nilly.

“We are not aware of the alleged appointments and untill evidence is shared we will continue to doubt their relevance because Parliamentary debates are recorded and the King listens to them willy  nilly,” said the King’s Spokesperson when responding to this publication.

Efforts to seek a comment from Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza, the Speaker in the House of Assembly, proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

But a senior Intelligence Officer told this publication that, “intelligence information gathering is not only about spying people or politicians with an alleged intention to arrest them but, the information could also be used to position the country with the expectations of the people.

“When an MP speaks even in the corridors of Parliament saying “yati bantfu balambile leNkhundleni yami angati kudla ngitakutsatsaphi sebalala lekhaya kami egedeni. An Intelligence spy will take that information without even informing the MP and give Labadzala and then, the authorities can send Philani Maswati there. Both MP and the people will be happy about the Tinkhundla system of Governance. But of course, there are those who are monitoring anti-Monarchy individuals who might rebel against the State however, it’s not always about politics sometimes it’s the gathering of information on social and economic issues. Kuva kutsi bantfu batsini ngelive bese Hulumende uyagijima uyalungisa”, said State Intelligence officer.

Responding to this publication on the subject matter, Wandile Dludlu, the Deputy President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said as an organization, they “are aware of the spies within Parliament” adding that,King’s appointees have a specific mandate.

“We are aware of the alleged King’s spies who were appointed and given a specific mandate to monitor the affairs and operations of Parliament, that Parliament is not for the people but belongs to the royal family. When the King appoints his loyalists to Parliament, it’s not a ‘blank cheque’, they are given a specific mandate”,said the PUDEMO Deputy President.

Eswatini is ruled by Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned from participating in elections while human rights defenders and political activists are arrested, tortured or even killed for democracy.

Two(2) pro-democracy MPs Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube were sentenced to life imprisonment merely for, demanding democratic reforms inside Parliament, they were found guilty on politically motivated terrorism charges.
