Eswatini firefighters protesting in demand for their overtime allowances for over two(2) years now, union leaders to meet Urban Development Minister and present Parliament recommendations directing Government to pay.

MBABANE:Eswatini firefighters has been consistently protesting in demand for their overtime allowances for over two(2) years now.

The Government employees under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development took turns to protest either within the premises of their workplace or stage a surprise visit to the Government Offices during lunch hours or off-days, the protests continued on Monday across the country.

On another note, firefighters union leaders will meet Housing and Urban Development Minister Apollo Maphalala on Monday afternoon to present Parliament recommendations,urging Government to release the overtime allowances, “they will demand answers why Government defied Parliament and refused to pay”.

Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo declined to comment regarding this matter.

Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, Bawinile Ndlovu,the President of the National Public Service and Allied Workers Union(NAPSAWU) confirmed the proposed meeting with the Minister.

“We're going to meet the line Minister at 2pm pertaining the fire fighters long overdue overtime,” she said.
