MBABANE:Alpheous Nxumalo, the eSwatini Government Spokesperson has released a press statement, warning the Executive Committee of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) against allowing their reputable organization to be hijacked by political activists.
This comes after SNAT Secretary General Lot Vilakati and other Executive members of the teachers organization, visited the Ministry of Education-Teaching Service Commission(CSC) Offices to demand the salary of President Mbongwa Dlamini, they were subsequently assaulted by a group of rogue police officers led by Assistant Superintendent Nuro Ntibane.
But Government subsequently accused the SNAT Executive of visiting the Ministry of Education Offices to hold the TSC Commissioners hostage, while ignoring the fact that, “the matter they were enquiring about,is pending” before court.
“It is disappointing to note that, notwithstanding the fact that SNAT did not secure an official appointment with TSC, the Commissioners went out of their way and accommodated the impromptu meeting, which later was treated with total disdain by the SNAT leadership, leading to the decision by the TSC to request leave from the meeting.SNAT resisted to leave the offices, which necessitated the intervention of the police. This should have been avoided had SNAT leadership cooperated with both the law enforcement agencies and TSC”, said the Government Spokesperson in a statement released on Wednesday.
