MBABANE: Winnie Magagula, the former Minister of Labour and Social Security has died of a COVID-19 related illness.
Magagula who died while serving as Deputy Chairperson of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) was admitted at the Luke Commission at Sidvokodvo, she was later 'grabbed' by her daughters who allegedly transported her to Manzini Clinic with a BMW not an Ambulance and she later died.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News, Richard Phungwayo, the Head of Secretariat within the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) said as a Commission they were waiting for an official report from the family before making further comments.
“We are waiting for the family to formally report to the Commission, we will then do what is expected from us ” said the EBC Head of Secretariat.
Insiders within the Elections Commission confirmed the death of their colleague but said the matter was currently discussed internally.
“It’s true that she has died” said a senior insider within the EBC.
Efforts to seek a comments from her daughter Ncobile Magagula, the Eswatini Post and Telecommunication Corporation(EPTC) proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report, her conversation with this journalist was terminated, perhaps due to network problems.
