LUBOMBO:King Mswati handed over projects worth about R100million to various cooperatives in the Lubombo Region and further announced the construction of ten(10) new houses for elderly citizens in each Inkhundla.
The projects were funded through the Regional Development Fund (RDF) and include essential resources such as tipper and dropside trucks, tractors, feedlots, and items for hire like tents, chairs and pots, Government online platforms reported on Thursday.
“Additionally, infrastructure projects constructed through the Micro Projects Unit, were handed over. These include dip tanks, low level crossings, roads, grazing land and community halls.His Majesty further launched the E24M Mpolonjeni water scheme, a joint project between Government, World Vision and the Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC), which will benefit 25 000 people under Mpolonjeni and Lugongolweni Tinkhundla, providing access to clean water.On another note, His Majesty issued a directive for the electrification of the country’s technical centres and the upgrading of running tracks through the Regional Development Fund”, reads the Government online report.
The handover of the resources took place at Mpolonjeni Inkhundla, which also serves as a service centre.
The King praised the Mpolonjeni Inkhundla as a good model of decentralisation of Government services through Tinkhundla.
