MBABANE:Newly appointed Shiselweni Regional Administrator(RA) Themba Masuku has lost gazetted State benefits worth over R5million including escorts.
The former Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) was entitled to a lifetime monthly salary, Medical Aid and other State benefits collectively worth over one hundred thousand Rands(R100,000.00) per-month.
This means apart from the car, Masuku was receiving over R1.2million per-year while sitting at home and after being appointed Shiselweni Regional Administrator(RA), he will lose over R5million in the next five(5) years but, earn about seventy thousand Rands(R70,000.00) monthly salary with no escorts and the other benefits.
On Monday, the former DPM held a meeting with his new boss Tinkhundla Minister Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, he was with Lubombo RA Themba Msibi, Hhohho RA Princess Tsandzile and Manzini RA Chief Prince Gija.
The Government Circular awarding Masuku the lifetime salary and other State benefits has a provision suggesting that, should the DPM be appointed by the King to another position, he will then lose those benefits.
