Acting ICT Minister: No link between COVID-19 and 5G technology

MBABANE: Mancoba Khumalo, the Acting Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) said there was absolutely no link between the 5G technology and the novel Coronavirus. 

In a statement issued on Monday, Khumalo noted that there were many theories  circulating in the media about the 5G network and it\'s effects on the people, he made it clear that this new technology is not harmful to human life and it is not a threat. 

\"Mobile technology works by electromagnetic radiation at low power.The development for 5G is based on the same engineering principles 

This is a clear indication that the 5G technology is far from being a threat to human life", said the Acting  ICT Minister  in a statement. 

He also added that the The International Telecommunications Union(ITU) conducted  studies  that prove that indeed this 5G network  poses no risk to humans and their health.

When reached for comments, Dr Kevin Magadzange , Health Promotions Officer at the World Health Organization (WHO) Eswatini said there is no relationship between COVID-19 and 5G technology.

 “There is no way a virus can be transmitted through technology," he said.
