“The People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) stands in militant solidarity with the brave
and grieving students of the University of Eswatini (UNESWA),who have risen in protest following the tragic and unjust death of their comrade, Farido Singwa. His death by suicide, reportedly
following persistent bullying by a lecturer, is not just a personal tragedy-it is a searing indictment of a broken, brutal, and repressive education system under the Tinkhundla regime,” reads the statement in part.
The PUDEMO Secretary General said, Farido Singwa’s death was not a moment of personal weakness but, a political consequence.
”It was the inevitable result of institutionalized abuse, neglect, and deliberate underfunding of education in a country where youth are seen not as the future but as threats. The regime’s disdain for education has turned our learning institutions into sites of trauma, depression, and despair. Students are forced to navigate dilapidated facilities, mental health neglect, abusive staff, and an administration that protects power over people. There is no time for silence. There is no time for fear, Its time for defiance. PUDEMO fully supports and encourages the ongoing student protests. We recognize them not only as a reaction to a painful loss but as a powerful act of political resistance against a system that thrives on exploitation and repression. These protests are just, they are necessary, and they must grow louder,” reads the statement in part.
On another note, PUDEMO is eSwatini’s main and largest political party, fighting for democratic reforms in eSwatini, the political organization is demanding an independent investigation into the death of the University student.
