MBABANE:King Mswati does not interfere with police investigations even if the criminal case involves a royal family member, his Spokesperson Percy Simelane told this Swaziland News on Wednesday.
This comes after the arrest of outgoing Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo who stands accused of raping children across the country but at this juncture, “the police managed to arrest him for raping two(2) children without using a condom despite his alleged earlier confession that, he is HIV+”.
Simelane said, even in the case of the University student who was allegedly raped by a royal family member, the King did not interfere.
“Our experience is that the King does not interfere with the long arm of the law even if a member of the royal family or high position person is arrested and charged with an offense. We are aware of the insinuations that ensue each time a high profile individual or member of the royal family has to face the law but there has never evidence that the King had defended anyone. When he was being accused of stopping the police from arresting a suspect in an alleged rape case involving a female University student in Manzini, I personally asked the police to explain to me the failure to arrest but the response was that the alleged rape had not been reported to any Police Station in that region. So there was nothing to act on,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
Alleged serial rapist and outgoing Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo was granted bail by Judge Mumcy Dlamini, he stands accused of raping his Pastor friend’s children.
