MBABANE:Neal Rijikernberg, the Minister of Finance met the World Bank Treasury team the sidelines of the ongoing 2025 IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings, to explore converting Eswatini’s US Dollar-denominated debt to South African Rand, Government online platforms reported on Saturday morning.
“Honourable Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg and the Principal Secretary Vusi Dlamini, met with the World Bank Treasury team to explore converting Eswatini’s US Dollar-denominated debt to South African Rand. This potential shift aims to lower debt servicing costs and protect Eswatini from exchange rate fluctuations.It reflects Government’s commitment to strengthening public debt management and ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability”, reads the Government online report.
