MBABANE:Ronnie Kasrils, the former South African Minister of State Intelligence and Security has called for decisive action against eSwatini and the Kingdom’s security officers who consistently invade SA to abduct political activists.
The former State Intelligence and Security Minister was speaking on Tuesday evening and this, was during a strategic meeting organized by the South African Communist Party(SACP) seeking to receive an update from leaders of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) regarding the struggle for democracy in eSwatini among other issues, he thanked PUDEMO President Mlungisi Makhanya for what he described as an insightful presentation.
Ronnie Kasrils was speaking after the PUDEMO President made a presentation on “what needs to be done at international level to isolate King Mswati’s undemocratic regime”.
Makhanya highlighted the fact that, “South Africa as eSwatini’s largest trading partner, is better positioned to isolate the Kingdom”, political activists are abducted, tortured and killed in eSwatini merely for demanding democracy.
The PUDEMO President said, eSwatini is undermining South Africa’s Sovereignty by invading the country to abduct political activists adding that, “the issue of the ongoing abductions, must be handled at the South African Government level”.
Velaphi Mamba, the PUDEMO Treasure General, Qhawekazi Khumalo of Swazi Lives Matter, Siboniso Mkhabela, the PUDEMO National Organizing Secretary and editor Zweli Martin Dlamini were part of the meeting.
Others include high ranking South African politicians including leaders of the South African Communist Party.
