MANZINI:Junior police officers led by Sergeant Dumsile Khumalo held an urgent meeting on Saturday where they resolved to reject the proposed two percent(2%) salary increment and twenty-four(24) months back-pay.
This comes after Government defied a Supreme Court order directing the State to pay junior police officers their back-pay and further award them a salary increment in terms of the 2014 Circular and this means, the junior officers were in terms of the court order, entitled to over one hundred thousand Rands(R100,000.00) back-pay while those who hold the position of Sergeant were entitled to over three hundred thousand Rands(R300,000.00).
But with the 2% proposed by the Consultant seeking to override the 2014 Circular, officers will only receive a mere 2% increment amounting to only two hundred Rands(R200.00) and a back-pay amounting to four thousand eighty hundred Rands(R4,800.00).
The urgent meeting took place at the Manzini Park Hotel Conference Room.
