MBABANE:Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze might be suspended or ordered to take a forced leave pending investigation launched by Commander-in-Chief King Mswati into allegations of corruption that divided the army, thretening State security.
This comes after a series of investigative stories published by this Swaziland News, the Army Commander stands accused of owning over two hundred(200) cattle worth R3million being alleged proceeds of bribery from members of the public seeking jobs in the army and soldiers who were subsequently promoted.
The Army Commander confirmed that, the King has launched the investigation when speaking with Commanding Officers about two(2) weeks ago.
“The King has appointed a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the allegations against me, asekhuteni Lwandle.Bayeeethe wena Waphakathi. Ngiyetsemba sengtawuhlengeka ngoba njalo ntsambama sengetayele kutsi kubhalwa ngami. Kodvwa-ke mine buhlungu sengabuva kakhulu ngafelwa ngumfati”, said the Army Commander.
Responding to this Swaziland News, Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo said, the matter “hasn’t yet reached her Office”.
But apart from the investigation allegedly launched by King Mswati, this publication gathered that some members of the Executive Command are calling for the suspension of the Army Commander pending both the investigation launched by the King and the criminal investigation into the attack of Brigadier General Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini who opened a case at Mafutseni Police Station.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson declined to comment about the matter.
It has been disclosed that, the criminal case opened against the Army Commander has attracted an interest from some senior soldiers within the Executive Command who sympathize with Brigadier Zenzele Dlamini, they want Mashikilisane Fakudze arrested.
On another note, the Army Commander was summoned by Defense Principal Secretary(PS) Prince Sicalo and Chief Officer Prince Hlangabeza to deliver a message from the King, the meeting took place on Wednesday at the Ministry of Defense and State Security Offices-Lozitha.
