MBABANE: Mbongseni Shabangu, the Secretary General of the Swaziland Democratic Party(SWADEPA) has thanked the Nation and the entire progressive movement for the support following sentiments made by King Mswati’s son Prince Majaha where he was mocking the death of their late President Jan Sithole.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, the Secretary General said the comments made by the Prince, even though he was mocking and celebrating the death of their President helped in revealing that more Swazis were in support of the calls for democratic reforms.
“You will recall that the comments were not only directed to the late Jan Sithole alone but the entire progressive movement as the Prince mentioned that he hated anyone who gives his father a hard time by calling for democracy. But we appreciate the support we received from the Nation and the entire progressive movement, this was an indication that the people are now hungry for democracy”,said the SWADEPA President.
When speaking to the Times Sunday after this publication published a video where he was mocking the death of the powerful political activist, Prince Majaha said he hated anyone who gave his father a hard time by calling for democracy.
This was condemned by political parties that include the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) and the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) among others.
