MBABANE: King Mswati is highly expected to deliver his last Parliament Speech this week, a few months before his 2022 First World Status strategic plan where he assured a better life for all citizens in eSwatini.
Mswati, an absolute Monarch referred to as Umlomo Longacali Manga(the mouth that speaks no lies) in terms of Customary Law has been, over the years promising Swazis that the country would attain First World Status by 2022, however, the education and health systems have collapsed with government struggling to fulfil social obligations.
Sabelo Dlamini, the Eswatini Government Spokesperson failed to respond when asked if the Nation should expect to live in a First World country next year as per the King’s promises.
Reached for comments, Wandile Dludlu, the Secretary General of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said Swazis should expect nothing from King Mswati, describing him as a coward who looted resources for his own benefit. He said Swazis should evaluate the performance of the King who has been in office for over 30 years, then they will see that nothing should be expected from him in terms of improving the lives of the people.
“The 2022 vision never existed in the first place, Mswati has been lying to the people for all these years, the only thing he did was to loot the resources of this country for his own benefit. This means, we shouldn’t waste our time talking about this vision 2022 First World Status because it never existed. The only thing that can help Swazis in this current situation is to demand their country back and establish a democratic government. Mswati is a King and as a leader of this country, we have a right to evaluate his performance in office, every leader must be scrutinised, this one keeps on talking about visions that never existed”,said the PUDEMO Secretary General.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) said they were not expecting this country with the highest poverty and unemployment rate to reach First World Status.
She said even though the country was struggling due to poor governance, it was possible that the King and royalty were already enjoying First World Status life within the Palaces.
“We are not expecting any First World Status under the current government where the health and education systems have collapsed with a high unemployment rate. This country will only reach the First World Status under a democratic government. However, the King and his family members are already enjoying a First World Status life within the Palaces”,said the NNLC President.
