NYANYALI: A battalion of armed police officers destroyed Nyanyali dagga fields on Monday as revenge to residents for demanding kids who disappeared during the Incwala ritual ceremony.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Sizwe Dlamini, a resident of the area said the police arrived in the early hours of Monday morning with different types of cars and destroyed the dagga fields.
“The police said we are being rebellious because we have money and can afford to live our lives so they will fix us by destroying the dagga fields. The problem now is that nothing is being said about the missing children, they are now focusing on destroying our dagga”,said the resident.
A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
It has been reported that the police sabotaged the investigations into the missing children and subsequently assisted the ‘politically connected’ suspect implicated in the disappearance of the children to escape to South Africa.
Ayanda Dlamini, the mother to one of the missing children later told this publication that she was abducted by the police to Hlathikhulu Police Station where she was assaulted and tortured for demanding her missing child.
