MBABANE:Mbongeni Mbingo,the Swazi Observer Managing editor is alleged to have pocketed ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) bribe declared by Thembeka ‘Dima Katso’ Gamedze.
The journalist was working for the State controlled Swazi Observer in 2018 when businesspeople who had allegedly colluded with the then Ezulwini Municipality Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Vusi Matsebula in an attempt to bribe her with an intention to block a corruption tender story.
Vusi Matsebula is now working as the CEO of the State owned Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency(SPPRA).
The journalist declared the money to her editor Mbongeni Mbingo and went on to write the story but, her editor allegedly colluded with the police to loot it and the corruption case subsequently died a natural death.
Mbingo declined to comment when asked to clarify what happened to the money or exhibit.
It is alleged that, the police shared the money with the Swazi Observer Managing editor and agreed that, the case must be sabotaged.
