MBABANE:Eswatini is now rated among top five(5) African countries with best quality roads, at least according to a research conducted by Stastisa.
But the research recommended some improvements in the maintenance of roads within the rural areas and, with the soon to be constructed African Development Bank(AfDB) loan funded R2.5billion Siphofaneni-Siphamanweni road, the tiny Kingdom might soon improve in rankings.
Currently, eSwatini is rated with the likes of Rwanda, Egypt and Morocco as African countries with best quality roads however, South Africa despite being a more developed country than eSwatini and perhaps, due to the geographical size, is rated lower than eSwatini and Rwanda as more work needs to be done to connect the entire country with quality roads.
Parliament recently approved the R2.5billion loan sourced from the African Development Bank, the money will be used to construct the Siphofaneni-Siphambanweni road.
The infrastructure is highly expected to enhance the country’s economic ambitious to attract Foreign Direct Investments(FDIs) and further boost the ease of doing business.
