MBABANE:National Commissioner Vusi Manoma Masango paraded two(2) cadets on Tuesday who completed a Diploma in Police Science in Egypt Police Academy but it has emerged that, these are children of Assistant Commissioner Vusi Gama and Superintendent Pholani Nxumalo.
The children, one of who has been confirmed to have never joined the police service, were selected to benefit from this course and, they received over fifty-thousand Rands(R50,000.00) as allowances during the training.
National Commissioner Vusi Manoma Masango was not involved in this corruption as he was not appointed by the King at the time of the selection.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati declined to comment about the matter.
It has been reported that, the “duo is among several police officers from other countries who have undergone specialised training at the Cairo Police Academy)Egypt) in areas such as countering terrorism and organised crime, countering terrorism” and asymmetric warfare, as well as a course about the Role of Women in Peacekeeping Missions.
“Khulekani Nxumalo, aged 24, and Mpendulo Gama, aged 20, have completed the two-year course through the Africa Police Cadets Programme in Egypt and are now equipped with enhanced skills essential to addressing the evolving policing challenges faced by the country”, reads a police online platform report.
But the corruption was exposed after it transpired that, these children were too young and members of the public were questioning when did they join the police organization to even qualify to be selected for this Egypt training.
