MBABANE:The death of Lobamba Police Station cop Mduduzi ‘Ndu’ Dlamini who shot and killed himself on Tuesday morning in the line of duty, has triggered an emotional debate among junior cops.
This comes amid delay in the implementation of a salary increment for junior police officers under Phase two(II), resulting to an escalating financial crisis among the members of the eSwatini law enforcement agency.
“Samson watsi mane ngife netitsa tami so kusi-Bhayibheli noma siNkulunkulu loko”, said another cop during the ‘hot’ debate that erupted on Tuesday afternoon in the Police Whatsap Group when supporting a suggestion that, cops who decide to commit suicide must at least be ‘accompanied’ by Station Commanders and other senior cops.
But Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson said, National Commissioner Vusi Masango will soon launch an investigation into the ongoing suicide death of junior police officers. She was addressing the media after this Swaziland News exclusively reported that, another cop has committed suicide.
Mduduzi Dlamini who was based at Lobamba Police Station, shot and killed himself, a few days after the death of Malkerns Police Station cop Lucky Vilakati who also killed himself as the suicide crisis allegedly triggered by financial challenges, escalate within the Police Service.
