MBABANE:Eswatini is fast becoming one of the key and strategic diplomatic partners for the United States in Southern Africa amid worsening relations between the US and South Africa.
This comes after President Donald Trump announced that, he will boycott the upcoming G20 Summit to be held in South Africa towards the end of this year, citing “very bad policies” as the reason., IOL News reported on Wednesday.
Speaking on Air Force One on Tuesday, Donald Trump said he will send someone else because of the “problems” he has with South Africa.
“I think maybe I’ll send somebody else because I’ve had a lot of problems with South Africa. They have some very bad policies.They have some very bad policies.A lot of people are being killed. I’d like to, but I don’t think I will,” said the US President.
But eSwatini Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini who recently signed the agreement with the United States that resulted to the widely reported dumping of dangerous criminals in the tiny Kingdom, urged investors to take advantage of the warm diplomatic relations between eSwatini and the US, saying, the “relationship between eSwatini and the United States is currently at its peak”.
The Prime Minister was addressing visiting Taiwan investors on Tuesday at the Cabinet Offices-Mbanane, the investors “are in the Kingdom to explore investment opportunities”.
