MBABANE:Sergeant Sibusiso Nhlanhla Nkomonye, the Lomahasha Desk Officer has been demoted by National Commissioner Vusi Manoma Masango for allegedly colluding with a well-connected syndicate to smuggle drugs from Mozambique through the Lomahasha Border Post.

It has been disclosed that, the syndicate allegedly involves well-known businessman Mike Mamba and the police at Lomahasha are alleged to have arrested two(2) suspects linked to Mamba while Nkomonye was away from work.

But well-connected businessman Mike Mamba is alleged to have contacted Nkomonye who subsequently rushed to release the suspects, telling the junior officers “Mamba will ensure that they appear in court”.

The junior police officers who arrested the suspects are alleged to have then reported the Desk Officer to their superiors after the suspects ran away and Mamba summersaulted, claiming he was not aware of their whereabouts.

Police documents seen by this Swaziland News suggests that, the National Commissioner demoted Nkomonye to the Police General Duty(GD), the memo demoting the Desk Officer is dated 31st July 2025.

As a result, Sergeant Sibusiso Nkomonye will now work at Oshoek Border not as a Desk Officer but as an ordinary police officer.

A Desk Officer is a senior cop within a Police Station working as the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department(CID), supervising detectives and developing investigation strategies for prosecution purposes.

Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson declined to comment about the demotion of the Lomahasha Desk Officer.

On another note and apart from the Mike Mamba deal that went wrong in May 2025, on or around June 2025, Nkomonye is alleged to have colluded with his brother Andile ‘Dr Mkhulu’ Nkomonye to smuggle drugs worth over R3million through the same Lomahasha Border Post.

Information sourced from the Lubombo Regional Police Headquarters suggests that, in this particular incident, a truck driver was searched at the Lomahasha Border and while the police were busy searching the truck, the driver literally ran away leaving the loaded truck behind.

The truck was searched and drugs were discovered and subsequent investigations allegedly uncovered that, Sibusiso Nkomonye and ‘Dr Mkhulu’ had crossed the Border to Mozambique and upon return, used the truck to try and smuggle the drugs while following it at a distance.
