Editor Zweli Martin Dlamini secures over R500,000.00 funding for website upgrade from an Embassy, South African technology company to develop website that allows international readers to pay for content.

MBABANE:Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini has secured over five hundred thousand Rands(R500,000.00) funding to be used in developing a new website that will allow even international readers to pay for reading stories.

With this funding from an Embassy with close relations with the editor, the Swaziland News is fast becoming financially independent as the website is highly expected to generate revenue from readers around the world.

This online publication has over two(2) million monthly readers on the website in countries that include the United States, Taiwan, China, South Africa, eSwatini, the United Kingdom and other European countries, this means with the new website, international readers will be able to pay through the international banking system.

The current website was supported by the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa(OSISA) and the editor thanked all international partners who contributed and, continue to contribute to the gradual growth of this independent online publication.

The project to upgrade the website has been awarded to a South African technology company and the editor has already introduced the company to the Embassy.

On another note, the editor is highly expected to travel to Europe to meet other donors who expressed an interest in supporting the Swaziland News, the donors previously supported the editor with security funding and now wants to discuss future support.
