PIGG’S PEAK:Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini says development could only be achieved through collaborative efforts between the Executive, the Legislature and other stakeholders.
The PM addressing Members of Parliament(MPs) and Cabinet Ministers on Monday, during the ongoing engagement between the Executive and Parliament in the implementation of the Grand Plan for National Transformation, Government online platforms reported.
“Past plans laid an important foundation, with gains in areas such as agricultural productivity, basic education access, and SME support, but structural issues such as weak infrastructure, health sector gaps, and limited private sector development have persisted.Today, Eswatini stands at a critical crossroads. Will we continue on the path that has led us here today or will we brave a different path altogether? The Grand Plan is Government’s attempt to aim higher than we have before and set our sights on new possibilities,” said the Prime Minister.
The PM further emphasized the importance of working towards ensuring that the country achieve developed countries status.
“Ultimately, we believe that the Kingdom can and should aspire to reach high income status in the next 2-3 decades and be counted, as His Majesty has frequently mentioned, among the most developed countries in the world. To get there, we need a deliberate and credible long-term strategy that corrals the whole of Government. We must work together to see this future materialise in the coming years,” he said.
