MBABANE:King Mswati is highly expected to grace the Police Day next week Friday and addressed a demotivated Police Service amid escalating suicide cases.
Junior police officers are demanding their salary increment under Phase two(2) but, the Government has been refusing to release the money even when ordered to do so by the Supreme Court.
Government is currently challenging the Supreme Court order through a review in what the Police Union labeled as delaying tactics by National Commissioner Vusi Manoma Masango.
The matter is pending in court but junior cops are putting pressure on Government through the Ministry of Public Service, demanding the salary increment.
King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane told this publication earlier that, the King approved the salary review acting on recommendations suggesting that, the security forces must benchmark with countries within the Southern African Development Community(SADC).
Senior police officers had their salaries increased under Phase one(1) but, junior cops have been working without a salary increment for the past ten(10) years.
