MBABANE:Workers of the Prime Bakery are allegedly complaining that, their union-the Amalgamated Trade Union of Swaziland(ATUSWA) have dumped them despite collecting subscriptions.

As a result, the employer is allegedly abusing the workers with impunity after promoting one of ATUSWA’s Shop Stewards who subsequently turned against the workers.

A Shop Steward, also known as a trade union representative(TUR), is an elected representative of union members within a workplace.

Efforts to reach the Prime Bakery Management proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

But ATUSWA’s Bongani Ndzinisa said he was aware of the worker’s complaints adding that, the trade union will address their plight as a matter of urgency.

“We are aware of their plight, we will take-up the matter and address their challenges. It’s not like we dumped them but their Shop Stewards told us to temporarily stop taking legal action against the employer as the company appears to be financially struggling but now that you have alerted us, we will take action”, he said when speaking to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
