MBABANE:Mvuselelo Mkhandawiri, a police officer based at Mbabane Police Station allegedly threatened to shoot kill ‘Babetala’ for demanding child maintenance after impregnating a Form two(II) St Mary’s School girl.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Tuesday, Nkosinathi Nhlengetfwa said, the police officer threatened to shoot him should he continue to demand the child maintenance.
“He impregnated my child who is doing Form II at St Mary’s High School and threatened to shoot and kill me for demanding the child maintenance. I paid school fees and now taking care of a child that is not mine. Liphoyisa alifuni kondla ligabatisa buphoyisa,” he said.
When this publication tried to reach the police officer, he did not answer his cellphone despite several attempts to seek a comment.
Reached for comments by this publication, Nonhlanhla Dlamini, the Executive Director of the Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse(SWAGAA) said, the solution in this matter is a DNA test.
“We now have DNA test laboratories in the country, the child can visit our offices so that we can assist her urgently. In such situations, the solution is the DNA and thereafter, the police officer can be forced to pay child maintenance through the courts if the results came out positive,” said the SWAGAA Director.
