MBABANE:Mancoba Khumalo, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade has called for the development of digital systems to assist the youth who demonstrate skills in creating online content.

The Minister was addressing the Session on “Driving Growth-Youth-Led Innovation in Digital Development for Sustainable Economies” held on the sidelines of the Third(3rd) United Nations(UN) Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries(LLDC3) at the Awaza Conference Youth Centre, Turkmenistan.

“Today, we gather to reflect on an urgent but promising reality that LLDCs, despite our geographic limitations, can unleash powerful economic growth through digital innovation especially when that innovation is led by our youth. The transformative potential of young people in the digital space is evident.Across LLDCs, youth are building apps, launching platforms, creating content, and redefining how business, education, and governance are conducted. However, this potential must be supported by robust ecosystems and sound policy interventions,” said the Minister as quoted by Government online platforms.

The Commerce Minister applauded the Session saying it provided “not only an opportunity to hear from the youth”, but also to learn from them.

“They are not just future leaders-they are current innovators, problem-solvers, and partners in development. As policymakers, we must empower them with the tools, skills, and platforms they need to thrive in an increasingly digital and interconnected world”,’he said.
