MBABANE:The Sincemphetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund(SMVAF) suspension of top Managers story investigated by this Swaziland News will form part of the headlines in both the Times and Observer on Sunday.
This comes after this publication reported earlier on Saturday that, Chief Financial Officer(CFO) Martin Simelane and Chief Operations Officer(COO) Innocent Dlamini have been ‘suspended’ pending further investigations into alleged irregularities in the procurement of a R59million SAP-ERP technology system without informing SCOPE, the Cabinet Standing Committee on Public Enterprise.
Zithulele Gina, the MVA Board Chairman confirmed the suspension of the two(2) Managers when speaking to this publication earlier on Saturday.
“It is true that the Board had concerns with compliance with procedure in the procurement of the SAP-ERP system. An external investigation was instituted by the board in this regard. The investigation report revealed that proper procedures were not followed in the procurement. The report recommended consequences management,” said the MVA Board Chairman when responding to this Swaziland News.
But sources within MVA told this publication that, after the publication of the story by this Swaziland News, the Times and Observer rushed to send questionnaires with an alleged intention to re-publish the story on Sunday.
“It’s a hot story, they will re-publish it tomorrow(Sunday)”, said the MVA sources.
Thousands of investigative articles published by this publication were subsequently re-published by the Times and Swazi Observer.
On another note, the Board Chairman told this publication that, “Chief Executive Officer(CEO) David Myeni was not suspended but is being engaged in the implementation of the report”.
But insiders within the State owned entity told this publication that, the CEO might resign for failing to oversee or ensure adherence to procurement procedures.
