MBABANE:Mbongeni Mbingo(53), the Managing editor of the Swazi Observer Group of Newspapers allegedly applied for job as Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA) and that of the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation(RESc) but was rejected.
It has been disclosed that, Mbingo applied for these positions after Tibiyo TakaNgwane delayed to renew his contract of employment, he then applied at RESc last year after the resignation of Sifiso Nyembe, the Corporate Affairs Manager.
But Mbingo was rejected by both the NDMA and RESc, Magman Mahlalela is the NDMA Communications Officer while Ashmond Fakudze is the new RESc Corporate Affairs Manager.
A questionnaire was sent to the Swazi Observer editor but he declined to comment.
On another note, Mbingo stands accused of dating King Mswati’s wife Inkhosikati Sibonelo LaMbikiza, he previously tried to oust the then Swazi TV Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Bongani ‘Sigcokosiyancinca’ Dlamini by scandalizing him using the Tibiyo TakaNgwane newspaper while applying for the same position.
But his attempt to take over as the Swazi TV Chief Executive Officer was not successful, eSwatini Government might soon recruit a new Government Spokesperson and Mbingo is allegedly among those eyeing the position.
The Swazi Observer editor was recently exposed by this Swaziland News for engaging in over R1million fraud and corruption, he allegedly colluded with Accountant Tengetile Mkhize to steal the company’s funds by systematically convincing advertising companies to pay in his bank account.
Allen Mkhonta, the Managing Director of the Swazi Observer confirmed to this publication earlier that, “the newspaper is currently battling to deal with fraud and corruption” and as a result, the media company has been struggling to pay salaries on time.
