MBABANE:Maphevu Mkhatjwa,the Acting Anti Corruption Commission(ACC) Commissioner has been removed a few days after investigator Bonginkhosi Dlamini ran to court, challenging his appointment in terms of the Prevention of Corruption Act 2006.
Dlamini challenged the appointment of the Acting ACC Commissioner beyond six(6) months which he said, “violates the law” and as a result, the Judicial Service Commission(JSC) subsequently rushed to commence the recruitment process, according to documents seen by this Swaziland News.
ACC Spokesperson Jabu Phakathi declined to comment about the recruitment subsequent to the removal of the Acting ACC Commissioner.
The removed Acting ACC Commissioner previously colluded with Chief Investigator Sipho Mthethwa, abused his powers, arrested and subsequently suspended investigator Bonginkhosi Dlamini amid an administrative fallout within the ACC.
Maphevu Mkhatjwa was allegedly controlled by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini who announced a Task Team, targeting his political enemies.
But during meetings, investigator Dlamini was reportedly questioning the abuse of the ACC to target individuals particularly politicians and Government officials who previously clashed with the Prime Minister, he was allegedly framed and arrested by the removed ACC Acting Commissioner and his faction within the Anti Corruption Commission.
Worth-noting, police officer Maphevu Mkhatjwa does not qualify for the position, the Prevention of Corruption Act suggests that, a person shall be appointed as the ACC Commissioner if he qualifies to be the Judge of the High Court.
The Judicial Service Commission will be accepting applications until the 25th August 2025.
