HLATHIKHULU:Mathokoza Dladla was allegedly tortured by Hlathikhulu police in June 2025 after an elderly woman reported her for theft.

But after about one hour thirty minutes(1:30) of heavy assault and alleged torture, Gogo arrived at the Police Station saying; “sale nimyekela sengisitfolile lesikhwama nemali yami lebengicabanga kutsi ilahlekile”.

Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, declined to comment about the matter.

Speaking to this Swaziland News this week, Dladla said he was heavily assaulted and insulted by the police for doing absolutely nothing and, was subsequently released without charge.

But he rushed to Peter Dunseth Attorneys to try and sue the police who violated his rights.

“They forced me to wear an army cloth, handcuffed and tied me to a bench while suffocating me with a plastic bag”, he said.

Eswatini police have been torturing and killing suspects with impunity, dozens have died while in police custody and the State controlled media falsely reported that, some committed suicide inside police cells by hanging themselves with shoe laces.
