MBABANE:Zithulele Gina, the Sincemphetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund(SMVAF) Board Chairman says Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg will guide the Board on whether to report the R59million SAP-ERP system procurement irregularities to the police for further investigation or not.
Chief Executive Officer(CEO) David Myeni is highly expected to resign together with Chief Financial Officer(CFO) Martin Simelane and Chief Operations Officer(COO) Innocent Dlamini, the procurement scandal was exclusively reported by this publication about two(2) weeks ago.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Friday evening when asked to clarify if the report warrants a further criminal investigation, the Board Chairman said, the internal report “did not implicate the CEO and the other Managers in any looting of MVA funds but merely cited failure” to adhere to procurement procedures.
“In my view, there would be no need to refer the matter to the police because the current internal report does not implicate them in any looting of MVA funds but, citing failure to adhere to procurement procedures. But as the Board, we report to Cabinet through the Minister of Finance. So it’s the Minister who will advise on whether to refer the matter to the police or not,” said the Board Chairman.
On another note, the Board Chairman previously told this publication that, Chief Executive Officer David Myeni was not suspended as the report did not implicate him in any looting but, voluntarily asked to engage the Board and resign citing failure on his part to ensure that, the Managers adhere to procurement procedures.
