MBABANE:The Supreme Court has stopped Judge Ticheme Dlamini from sending SwaziMed Board Chairman Samuel ‘Sammy’ Dlamini and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Peter Simelane to prison for alleged contempt of court.
This comes after the Judge accused the Board Chairman and the Principal Officer of defying a court order but allegations subsequently emerged suggesting that, Judge Ticheme Dlamini presided over the matter with an undeclared conflict of interest as “he is related to then Chief Financial Officer(CFO) Nokuthula Dlamini who was an interested party in the matter”.
Principal Officer Peter Simelane was accused of corruption in the matter exclusively reported by this Swaziland News and, the other Board led by Bheki Maziya subsequently ran to court to stop an Annual General Meeting(AGM).
But the AGM was allegedly organized with an alleged intention to remove the Board members who were demanding accountability amid allegations of fraud and corruption within the country’s largest medical scheme.
Judge Ticheme Dlamini issued an order stopping the AGM and his ‘daughter’ Nokuthula Dlamini later emerged as the Acting Principal Officer, the Board Chairman and the Principal Officer through their lawyer Mangaliso Magagula challenged the Judge amid conflict of interest allegations.
The Supreme Court has issued an interim order stopping Judge Ticheme Dlamini’s contempt of court proceedings against Samuel Dlamini and Peter Simelane and, the ematter has been postponed to the 12th September 2025.
On another note, Principal Officer Peter Simelane wrote to the Board expressing willingness to allow a forensic audit to verify the allegations of corruption and based on this commitment, Business Eswatini withdraw the contempt of case against Simelane and the Board Chairman.
But Judge Ticheme Dlamini attempted to proceed with the matter and send Dlamini and Simelane to prison for defying his order.
