EZULWINI:Jabulile Mashwama, the Managing Director of the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) is earning over two hundred thousand Rands(R200,000.00) monthly salary including other allowances at the time when the country is facing an escalation in water tariffs.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, a majority of the citizens are struggling to afford the expensive water provided by the State owned water company.
But Jabulile Mashwama is King Mswati’s mother-in-law(Maketala), she is the former Minister of Natural Resources and, the mother of Inkhosikati Siphelele LaMashwama.
Information in possession of this Swaziland News suggests that, Managing Director Mashwama’s salary and other allowances are above R2million per-year and this means, the entire Management including regional Managers collect over R20million public funds as salaries per-annum.
Efforts to seek a comment from Water Services Spokesperson Nomahlubi Matiwane proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, Lubombo Regional Member of Parliament(MP) Futhie ‘MaMkhize’ Ngcamphalala recently expressed serious concerns regarding the escalation in water tariffs, she was speaking in Parliament.
