MBABANE:The Eswatini Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise(EWADE) has delivered maize to thirty-five(35) resettled families affected by the under construction R2.6billion Mpakeni Dam, the beneficiaries include Mpakeni and Mashekeshe residents.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, EWADE Corporate Communications Manager Nokwazi Hlophe said, the delivery of the maize forms part of the State owned agricultural entity’s life restoration program and will benefit the affected families.

“This maize relief is a direct response to the setbacks experienced during planting. It’s our way of ensuring that these families, who gave up their land for national development, do not go hungry,”said the EWADE Corporate Communications Manager.

But the response from the communities has been heartfelt, Gogo Lomasontfo Simelane from Mashekesheni said EWADE has proven to be a mother to them.

“They didn’t just talk, they acted. This maize is life to my grandchildren,” she said.

On another note, Zodwa Ginindza from Mpakeni said, promises are normally forgotten after relocation but not with EWADE.

“They saw our struggle and responded with love,” said the Mpakeni resident.
