MBABANE:Lomvula Hlophe, the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions now qualifies to be confirmed or promoted to the DPP position after acting for three(3) years at least, according to Government rules.

Hlophe took over as the Acting DPP after the resignation of the country’s Director of Public Prosecutions Phila Dlamini, “she now stands a chance to challenge the ongoing recruitment by the Judicial Service Commission(JSC) in court”.

Naniki Mnisi was confirmed by the Civil Service Commission(CSC) as the Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Education and Training after acting for more than six(6) months, she replaced retired PS Bhekithemba Gama.

Efforts to reach JSC Chairman Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala for a comment proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

The JSC is currently recruiting a new DPP in violation of the Government rules stating clearly that, an employee who acted in a vacant position for more than six months must be confirmed and/or promoted to the position.

Worth-noting, the JSC commenced the recruitment after the Acting DPP filed a warrant of arrest application against Kareem Ashraff, the powerful and politically connected SwaziPharm Director.
