MBABANE:Sibongile Mamba, the Mtsambama Member of Parliament(MP) has been for over one(1) year, banned from entering Parliament Chambers and debate laws while in mourning.
As a result, the people of Mtsambama are currently without a representative in Parliament after the death of the MP’s husband.
Efforts to seek a comment from the MP proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
But some MPs told this Swaziland News this week that, the mourning Mtsambama MP was only banned from entering Parliament Chambers and debating laws, she is only allowed to attend workshops and other activities.
“The MP is only banned from entering Parliament Chambers but, she is always with us during workshops,” said one of the MPs.
When this publication tried to contact Speaker Jabulani ‘Buy Cash’ Mabuza, his cellphone rang answered on Tuesday evening.
Eswatini is currently imposing cultural laws that discriminate women and as a result, women are not allowed to enter public places like Government Offices, Cabinet, Parliament and Royal Palaces where traditional offices are situated, while in mourning.
