MBABANE:His Excellency Promise Msibi, the retiring eSwatini Ambassador to Taiwan, is highly expected to return home in the next few weeks after refusing to retire.
The Ambassador has been conducting interviews in Taiwan, blasting the People’s Republic of China(PRC) for politically suffocating Taiwan while assuring the Chinese Province that, eSwatini will maintain diplomatic relations with Taiwan.
But it is alleged that, Msibi told the Taiwan Government that he was the only Ambassador capable of protecting and maintaining the Island’s interests in eSwatini and the entire African continent and therefore, he must be re-appointed as the Ambassador.
Diplomatic sources within the eSwatini Ministry of Foreign and International Cooperation told this Swaziland News that, Ambassador Msibi has been recalled after retiring and is highly expected to return home together with another retired Ambassador Vuyile Dlamini who is based in Geneva.
“He is highly expected to return home together with the Ambassador to Switzerland Vuyile Dumsani Dlamini”, said an insider within the eSwatini Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang referred comments to the Government of eSwatini.
Eswatini Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Pholile Dlamini-Shakantu was not immediately available for a comment.
But before being recalled, Ambassador Msibi is alleged to have tried to lobby the Taiwanese Government particularly Ambassador Jeremy Liang, urging him to convince the King to re-appoint him.
The outgoing eSwatini Ambassador to Taiwan has been vocal, using the Taiwan media to blast China, accusing the Chinese Government of suffocating Taiwan politically.
